TAKE ACTION: Demand Answers of Pete Hegseth
Our hearts go out to the tens of thousands impacted by the wildfires in and around Los Angeles, and we stand with those who have lost so much in the fires. Amid ongoing evacuation orders and fires that have yet to be fully contained, we are deeply concerned about the disinformation, lies, and callous critiques spread online by Donald Trump and his allies.
As we said in a short video on Friday, no matter what Donald Trump says – today or any day over the next four years – just remember that decency, empathy, and support still exist among the American people, even if we will soon be utterly devoid of it in the White House, and we at JDCA stand with those impacted in California.
This week, Donald Trump’s Cabinet faces its first test in the form of congressional nomination hearings. With so many Trump nominees egregiously unqualified for the esteemed roles to which they’ve been nominated, we encourage you to write to your senators expressing concern about the most dangerous and unqualified nominee to be considered this week – former Fox News Weekend host Pete Hegseth, nominated to serve as Secretary of Defense.
Tomorrow, Pete Hegseth will testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee. We encourage you to join us in voicing deep concern about Hegseth’s nomination given his Christian nationalist ties, allegations of sexual assault, interest in banning women from combat roles, financial mismanagement of veterans’ organizations Hegseth previously ran, allegations of abuse of alcohol, and complete lack of experience running a major institution like the Department of Defense.
Urge your senators to demand answers from Pete Hegseth on key issues of concern, including his extremism, allegations of sexual assault, and lack of experience for this incredibly large role.
JDCA will continue to track these hearings and keep you updated across our social media and TrumpWatch page, which also includes additional ways to take action.
Donald Trump has put forth nominees whose values are antithetical to our Jewish and American values, and we at JDCA will ensure our voices are heard. Thank you for being a part of this movement and for your support.
In solidarity,
Halie Soifer
